“Remember the earth whose skin you are.”

— Joy Harjo, Muscogee Nation, U.S. Poet Laureate.

The Land Remembers

Before CERES, before the Chattahoochee Hills we know today, this land was home to the Muscogee (Creek) people, a nation of farmers, builders, and stewards who understood, perhaps better than anyone, that how we care for the earth reflects how we care for each other.

They were removed from this land in the 1830s, but their relationship with it never ended. The nearby Chattahoochee River still bears their name. The soil still holds their story.

At CERES, we believe that building something new means honoring what came before. We are grateful to be caretakers of this land, and we carry that responsibility seriously in how we build, how we grow, and how we welcome community here.

We acknowledge the Muscogee Nation with respect, gratitude, and a commitment to stewardship worthy of this place.
